Review of Slipknot, Coheed and Cambria, and Trivium in Camden, NJ by: Kristyn

I recently attended the Slipknot, Coheed and Cambria, and Trivium show at the Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden, NJ and the best way to describe the show is totally being swept up in metal madness. I can't say I was completely thrilled with Trivium, nothing special just lots of screeching and growling, over top of crunching guitar riffs. I think I just wanted something more to make them stand out! Next up was Coheed and Cambria, and ask anyone I know and they will say that I constantly complain about the voice of lead singer Claudio, which tends to grate on my nerves, so I was not sure what to expect seeing them live. I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed their set. For some reason, hearing Claudio sing live and having the thunderous sound of the band behind him, I was able to get by my dislike for his vocal style and truly focus on the true showmanship of this band. They were rocking and I sincerely wish they could have played longer than half an hour; it almost seemed as if their set was cut short. Some set highlights included Welcome Home and my personal favorite Gravediggers and Gunslingers!

There was a 45 minute wait after Coheed left the stage before Slipknot graced the audience with their powerful presence. If you have not seen a Slipknot show before, stop reading this right now and go out find tickets to the next tour stop nearest you! The guys put on an amazing show! While not much of the set had changed since I saw them at the Mayhem Festival last summer, their stage show and energy never ceases to amaze me! Their set list included Wait and Bleed, Before I Forget, Dead Memories, Disasterpeice, Psychosocial, and People = Sh**t! Watching lead singer Corey Taylor and the rest of the guys create mayhem on the stage is always a visual spectacle, and the only thing that seemed to be missing from the night's performance were the pyrotechnics. I also wish that drummer Joey Jordinson's upside down drum solo could have been a bit longer, I love the shock value! The newest motto for the band may be All Hope Is Gone however all hope is certainly not gone for Slipknot to be a force to be reckoned with in the metal scene for years to come!
