Philadelphia, PA Show Review by Kristyn Clarke

PCM recently had the fabulous opportunity to check out Blues Traveler, Collective Soul, and Live at Festival Pier in Philadelphia, PA. All three bands put on a stellar performances and this show rated as one of my top picks from this summer's concert series. If ever a show took me back to the '90's than this would be the one, oh the memories some of these bands managed to stir up! I had never seen Blues Traveler live and I was pleasantly surprised by how much of their music I recognized, and found myself completely jamming out to their hits such as "Runaround" and "Hook."

The group also played several songs off their upcoming album "North Hollywood Shootout" and even though at times they got a little spacey, they never lost the crowds attention or admiration. I mean seriously, how do you not fall in love with front man John Popper's vocal style and wicked harmonica skills. After Blues Traveler, Collective Soul stormed onto the stage with rocking fury and plowed through their hits such as "Heavy," "December," "Hollywood,"and my personal favorite "Shine."The band sounded fresh and proved that they have true staying power in the music world. The crowd, myself included, were eagerly singing along with every word and the bands energy could be felt throughout the entire venue.

Collective Soul were definitely rocking and I hope they continue to do so for a long time to come! Next to take the stage and close out the show were Pennslyvania native boys Live (whose set was great, but did not have seem to have the same enthusiasm as the previous two acts.) The band played most of their classic songs such as "Lightening Crashes," "I Alone," and "Lakini's Juice."I can definitely tell you that I belting out every word! Great show, that brought back a lot of fun memories, and definitely added a few new ones at the same time!

PCM was honored to be the guests of Collective Soul drummer Ryan Hoyle and want to say thanks for having us out to check out the show, we had a great time! Check out our review of their NYC show and our past interview with Ryan, too!
