The Dark Knight just edged out Star Wars (the original saga) as the number two top grossing film of all time in actual dollars., still just a tad over hundred million shy of beating 1997's Titanic. For the 2008 tally, Iron Man grossed $317+ million, just edging out Indiana Jones with $315+ Million.

Famed Japanese auteur Takashi Miike, who is best known for cult classics such as Audition, Ichi: the Killer, and Children of Lost Souls, brings a fresh new look at the beloved spaghetti Western genre in Sukiyaki Western Django, starring Quentin Tarantino, Yusuke Iseya and Kaori Momoi.
August 1st
► England, the summer of '66 and the country is about to be consumed by World Cup Fever in Sixty-Six. For 12-year-old Bernie (Gregg Sulkin), the biggest day of his life is looming, the day he becomes a man - his Bar Mitzvah. However Bernie's North London family seems a little distracted. Bernie believes his Bar Mitzvah is about to change all this. He'll no longer be the kid everyone ignores, and he envisions and begins to plan the perfect ceremony and reception, where everyone assembled will acknowledge his new status as a man. Unfortunately for Bernie, things don't quite go according to plan!

► Kevin Costner, George Lopez, and Kelsey Grammer star in Swing Vote (Official Site). In a remarkable turn of events, the result of the presidential election comes down to one man's vote.

The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor is set in the Far East, where trouble-seeking father-and-son duo Rick and Alex O'Connell unearth the mummy of the first Emperor of Qin, a shape-shifting entity who was cursed by a wizard centuries ago. Starring Brendan Fraser, Jet Li, and Maria Bello.
August 6th
Beer For My Horses is a rough-ridin', beer-swillin', sheriff-dodgin', trouble-chasin', good ol’ boys comedy-adventure written by and co-starring superstar Toby Keith and popular comedian/recording artist Rodney Carrington.

Bottle Shock is the true story set in 1976 when an American wine beat out the French in at the "Judgement of Paris" tastings. The film stars Alan Rickman and Bill Pullman.

 
► In The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2, (Official Site) based on Ann Brashares' best-selling series of novels, four young women continue the journey toward adulthood that began with The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. Driven by Isabel Coixet's visually assured and deeply observant direction, Elegy charts the passionate relationship between a celebrated college professor and a young woman whose beauty both ravishes and destabilizes him. As their intimate connection transforms them - more than either could imagine - a charged sexual contest evolves into an indelible love story.

From Lionsgate entertainment comes The Perfect Game, based on a true story about a rag-tag team of boys from poverty-stricken Monterrey, Mexico who defy extraordinary odds to become the first foreign team to win the Little League World Series - doing so in a perfect game, the only one in championship history.

 Pineapple Express (Official Site), starring Seth Rogan and James Franco, is about a stoner and a dealer who are forced to go on the run from the police after the pothead witnesses a cop commit a murder.

Hellride (Official Site) is a raucous throwback to the days of the Sergio Leone spaghetti western, with a heaping helping of testosterone-fueled chopper action thrown into the mix. Writer/director Larry Bishop takes on a third role as Pistolero, head honcho of the Victors, a group of badass bikers who are out to avenge the murder of one of their members at the hands of the 666ers, a rival gang whose actions live up to their hellish moniker.
August 15th
Fly Me to the Moon is a groundbreaking 3-D animated adventure where three young flies set off on a courageous mission to become the first insects on the moon by hitching a ride on the historic Apollo 11 space flight. Based on the actual transcripts and the original blueprints from NASA, the film's stunning visuals and meticulous attention to detail introduce a whole new generation to the awe-inspiring achievements of the space program's most momentous mission

In Vicky Cristina Barcelona (Official Site), a painter enters a relationship with two American tourists, and a conflict begins with the painter's jealous ex-girlfriend. Starring Penélope Cruz, Javier Bardem, Scarlett Johansson, Rebecca Hall, and Chris Messina.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars (Official Site) picks up between episode II and III, when Anakin Skywalker is not yet Darth Vader.

Tropic Thunder (Official Site) stars Jack Black, Ben Stiller and Robert Downey, Jr. Through a series of freak occurrences, a group of actors shooting a big-budget war movie are forced to become the soldiers they are portraying.

In Death Race, set in a future version of America, a prisoner who is weeks away from being released is forced by his warden to compete in a brutal, deadly car race alongside his fellow inmates. Starring Jason Statham, Joan Allen, and Ian McShane.

Hamlet 2 had its world premiere at - and the comedy smash of - the 2008 Sundance Film Festival. In the irreverent comedy, a failed actor-turned-worse-high-school-drama teacher (Steve Coogan) rallies his Tucson, AZ students as he conceives and stages a politically incorrect musical sequel to Shakespeare's Hamlet. Also starring Catherine Keener, Amy Poehler, David Arquette and Elisabeth Shue.

► Starring Emma Roberts, Wild Child (Official Site) is about a rebellious Malibu princess who is shipped off to a strict English boarding school by her father.

Bangkok Dangerous is about a hitman in Bangkok who is supposed to pull off a series of jobs, but he falls for a local woman and bonds with his errand boy. Starring Nicolas Cage, James With, Charlie Yeung, and Philip Waley.

Crossing Over is a film about immigrants of different nationalities struggling to achieve legal status in Los Angeles. Starring Harrison Ford, Ray Liotta, Sean Penn, Cliff Curtis, and Ashley Judd.

► When Shelly, a Playboy bunny, is tossed out of the mansion, she has nowhere to go until she falls in with the sorority girls from Zeta Tau Zeta in The House Bunny (Official Site). The members of the sorority - who also have got to be the seven most socially clueless women on the planet - are about to lose their house. They need a dose of what only the eternally bubbly Shelley can provide... but they will each learn on their own to stop pretending to be what others want them to be and start being themselves.

The Longshots (Official Site) is the true story of Jasmine Plummer who, at the age of 11, became the first female to play in Pop Warner football tournament in its 56-year history. Starring Ice Cube, Keke Palmer, and Matt Craven.

In Traitor (Official Site), a special operative working with a terrorist group becomes the target of the CIA. Starring Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Jeff Daniels, and Neal McDonough.

► Due to overwhelming demand, Universal Pictures announced today that it will release a special sing-along edition of its worldwide smash hit movie musical Mamma Mia!

Disaster Movie, the latest genre spoof from filmmakers Jason Friedbeg and Aaron Seltzer, the team that parodied the teen-horror genre in Scary Movie, clichéd romantic comedies in Date Movie, overblown blockbusters in Epic Movie, and the ultra-macho 300 in Meet The Spartans.

► In Babylon A.D. (Official Site), veteran-turned-mercenary Thoorop takes the risky job of escorting a woman from Russia to China, but little does he know that she is host to an organism that a cult wants to harvest in order to produce a genetically modified Messiah. Starring Vin Diesel and Michelle Yeoh.

► In College (Official Site), awild weekend is in store for three high school seniors who visit a local college campus as prospective freshmen. Starring Drake Bell, Kevin Covais, Andrew Caldwell.
