► Watch Ed Harcourt's beautiful new video for the track "Until Tomorrow Then" off his latest album, The Beautiful Lie on Dovecote Records. The video was shot in Las Vegas with director Piper Ferguson. Currently, Ed is back in London feverishly working on writing the score to the Donnie Darko sequel S. Darko.

The Story by Brandi Carlile is currently featured in General Motor’s Summer Olympics advertising spot. It’s fitting that it's being featured in this ad as Carlile is a committed environmentalist.

In celebration of her groundbreaking album Exile in Guyville, Liz Phair will perform the entire album live at three engagements. (more...)

August 5th
► Bilingual band Monte Negro is releasing their album Cicatrix. The band is currently working with MTV Tr3s to bring the Latin alternative scene mainstream.

Jack's Mannequin may not be releasing their sophomore album until September 30th, but their new EP, The Ghost Overground, is available on iTunes now. The 4-song EP features "The Resolution" and "Bloodshot," two new songs off of The Glass Passenger. Additionally, it includes older tracks "Holiday From Real" (live from SIR) and "Kill The Messenger" (live from Rock Xentral). Catch the band on tour now with Paramore.

► Following a deep period of isolation and introspection, Jamey Johnson entered the recording studio in April 2007. ► On August 5, 2008, STM Records artist, ism, will be releasing their new album titled Urgency. ism's sophomore album, produced by Joe Blaney (The Clash, Tom Waits, Prince), builds on the solid foundation of 2006's critically acclaimed Monkey Underneath.
August 12th
► NYC's Morningwood is back, with their Sugarbaby digital EP, and a new video for Sugarbaby that features a puppet version of singer Chantal Claret.


► On August 12 the soundtrack to Toby Keith's new movie Beer for My Horses will be released featuring the band Trialer Choir and their song "Off the Hillbilly Hook." The soundtrack features other artists such as Toby Keith, Willy Nelson, Ted Nugent and Carter's Chord.

David Sanborn, the six-time Grammy-winning smooth-jazz saxophonist is releasing his 23rd solo album Here and Gone featuring special guests Eric Clapton, Sam Moore, Joss Stone, and more.

► Acclaimed dance-music innovators Hybrid announce the release of a new new double-disc mix collection, Soundsystem 01 on August 19, 2008 through Nettwerk Music group.

Donavon Frankenreiter, the musician/pro-surfer, has recorded his second album for Lost Highway Records, Pass It Around with a new approach to song writing and some new collaborations.

► Youth Novels, the greatly anticipated debut release from Lykke Li, hits the States today. Having already garnered much attention surrounding the Little Bit EP (released May 2008), Lykke Li is sure to please critics and fans alike with Youth Novels.

Juliana Hatfield will release of "How To Walk Away" – her 10th solo album in a remarkable 20-year-career – and the publication of her memoir, entitled "When I Grow Up."

Following a trying summer during which the band dealt with the death of drummer and founding member John Pike, Ra Ra Riot regrouped and recorded this debut full-length, which features nine originals and the best Kate Bush cover you've ever heard.

Team Blackout consists of Rev Run's teenage son JoJo Simmons and his childhood friends Zach, and Reggie. The Queens / Long Island natives have been rhyming together since the 7th grade, but it wasn't until the 2003 New York City Blackout that JoJo, Zach and Reggie decided to officially unite and form Team Blackout - hence the name. Since then, they've been honing their craft, in the studio, on stage and even on TV. For the past four-years, millions of Run's House fans have watched Team Blackout develop, on-air, into a full-fledged group to look out for. In 2007, they landed their first record deal with NY / LA based indie label Latchkey Recordings (distributed via Koch Entertainment). Jars of Clay will release Closer EP through all major digital service providers and through a physical copy. Eagle Rock Entertainment will release one of the all-time Classic Rock sets when on August 26, Live At The Isle Of Wight 1970 on CD by the Moody Blues, hits stores nationwide.

Raine Maida, best known for his gig fronting iconic Canadian rock band Our Lady Peace, has branched off on his own and created the record he was always meant to make, The Hunter's Lullaby.

Datarock are excited to announce the release of their new digital EP, Computer Camp Love EP, which includes remixes from one of the band's biggest musical influences, Devo. The EP will be available on iTunes and other major digital service providers on August 26.
