The
People Speak
History
Channel and Aniboom, the world's first virtual animation studio,
announced today a collaboration that will enable talented animators
to create unique interpretations of 10 readings by A-list celebrities
and musicians featured in the highly anticipated The People
Speak film airing later this year. The film will feature Matt
Damon, Marisa Tomei, Bruce Springsteen, Eddie Vedder, Viggo
Mortensen and many others who have come together to celebrate
democracy and give voice to the lives and experiences of ordinary
Americans who have changed the course of history. Animators
around the world will have the opportunity to submit their animations
based on the 10 historic recordings at here.
"With this competition, Aniboom and History get to show
the full force and growing impact of non-fiction animation
and how it resonates with primetime television audiences,"
said Uri Shinar, founder and president of Aniboom. "We
are excited to give our animators entrée to such an
incredible media partner, while also providing History with
a versatile art form that is studio quality and can be used
for broad promotion and distribution."
"We are pleased to work with Aniboom and the large community
of animators and graphic designers whom they represent,"
said Chris Moseley, SVP, Marketing, History. "The People
Speak is a film that so wholly demonstrates
that history is literally made every day, from the ground
up. With this initiative, we hope to encapsulate what
these important, historical and game changing words mean
to people on a visual level. We anticipate very powerful
responses. As well, the contest will enable History to bring
the expression of democracy to greater heights, on air, online,
through words and graphics, making History an even broader
'360' experience."
The People Speak animation competition has two stages. The
first stage calls for the Aniboom community to submit their
entries based on the 10 celebrity recordings from the film,
The People Speak. The second stage will grant five finalists
$5,000 to further develop their original creation and be given
the exciting opportunity to have their work aired on History
as interstitials. The Grand Prize winner will receive additional
on-air promotion, a cash prize and a development deal with
History.
The People Speak will feature dramatic performances chronicling
the history of this country, including charter documents,
letters, diaries and more, from additional celebrities such
as Kerry Washington, David Strathairn, Don Cheadle, Jasmine
Guy, Q'orianka Kilcher, Michael Ealy and musical performances
from Bruce Springsteen, Eddie Vedder, Allison Moorer and John
Legend. It is from these performances that Aniboom's creator
community will be deriving their inspiration and transforming
the human form of the presentation into an animated version
of the same story.
Lock
n' Load with R. Lee Ermey
R.
Lee "Gunny" Ermey brings history to life as he leads
viewers on a fascinating ride through the engineering and development
of weapons in the new one-hour series, Lock N' Load with R.
Lee Ermey.
Get hands-on with some of the world's fiercest firearms such
as machine guns, tanks, pistols and rockets, as Gunnery Sergeant,
drill instructor, Vietnam veteran, actor and former Mail Call
host R. Lee Ermey demonstrates the weapons that made battlefield
history. For example, Ermey unleashes a torrent of ammo using
a Dillon Aero Minigun, which shoots three thousand rounds per
minute, and then traces the evolutionary steps that brought
the gun to its present place in history.
In each episode of Lock N' Load with R. Lee Ermey, special high-speed
photography gives viewers an unprecedented look at the inner
workings of a particular weapon - how it works and what really
happens at the point of impact. Advanced 3D graphics help to
detail the improvements, changes in technology and thinking
behind each weapon, while experts flesh out the engineering
and history involved.
It's an enthralling ride through the evolution, origins, innovations,
victories and defeats of weapons, as Ermey delivers the story
with, literally, one finger on the trigger.
Pawn
Star$
Pawning
was the leading form of consumer credit in the U.S. until the
1950's and it is one of the oldest forms of banking. This fascinating
world and its history will be revealed in the new 30-minute/14
episode series, Pawn Star$.
Take a look inside the only family-run pawn shop in Las Vegas.
Three generations of Harrisions--a grandfather, father and
son--run the business together while amusing antics take place.
This family has lived and breathed the pawn business, using
their sharp-eyed skills to carefully assess the value of items
their colorful customers bring in, objects ranging from the
obscure to the truly historic.
They see everything from 15th century samurai sword to a
Picasso painting. They use their expertise in rare collectables
as they carefully appraise each item and determine if it is
real or fake in order to answer the question of "What's
it worth?" And, when these amateur historians don't have
the answer, they call upon their network of experts for help.
Quirky characters fill each episode of Pawn Star$ as they
try to sell, purchase or pawn items. Everything and everyone
has a story and it's the Harrison family's job to seperate
fact from fiction, because in this business the customer isn't
always right.
UFO
Hunters
The
UFO Hunters are Bill Birnes, Kevin Cook and Pat Uskert,
a team that investigates cases of UFO sightings around the
world. Together, they use eyewitness accounts, scientific
experimentation, documents recently released through the
Freedom of Information Act and footage that has never been
seen on television to piece together compelling - and sometimes
chilling - evidence of UFO phenomena.
The team investigates contemporary cases which offer audio
and video evidence, and also explores centuries-old cases
of UFO sightings - spanning the years 1897 to 2008. Their
investigations will take them across North America and Europe,
including a fresh look at Roswell, New Mexico, and others.
Gangland
They
rob, kill, and terrorize, and they've left their bloody mark
onAmerican History. This is the world of Gangland, the series
that reveals the inside story behind America's most notorious
street gangs. Starting out as a means of protection for their
members, gangs often turn predatory and greatly affect the
neighborhoods they control. The series explores gangs from
Hell's Angels to the Mexican Mafia, and features interviews
and rarely seen footage. It offers an in-depth look at gang
life from members themselves to those working to put an end
to it.
Life
After People
This
10-part
series takes a hypothetical look at what will happen to
Earth when humans disappear. Each episode will feature different
world areas and iconic structures, and through special effects
and interviews with experts in various fields, the audience
will witness what may happen to these places in the years
following human extinction.
The series uses the history of actual places and objects
to provide surprising insight into which structures will
persevere and which will disentegrate. For example, Big
Ben will stop ticking in a matter of days, while King Tut's
remains will still be around for decades. It will also take
a look at the creatures which will take over the places
once inhabited by humans, bringing about a new system of
survival and evolution.
Humans won't be around forever, and now we can see in detail,
for the very first time, the world that will be left behind.
Monster
Quest
This show uses the latest high-tech equipment
to take a scientific look at legendary creatures around the
world, creatures eyewitnesses claim to see to this day. From
Bigfoot to giant squids, each episode will examine all the
evidence available, from pictures and video to hair and bones,
as well as the eyewitness accounts themselves. Believers,
skeptics and scientists will weigh in, but what will the evidence
reveal?
Expedition
Africa
Twenty
miles off the coast of eastern Africa, four modern-day explorers
are sailing toward the unknown, the deep interior of Tanzania.
They'll travel 970 miles through the most stunning, epic
and unforgiving African terrain - fraught with danger. Using
only a compass and basic maps, they will attempt to experience
the spirit of a remarkable adventure in world history. Their
historic exploration has been captured by one of the premiere
storytellers of our time, Mark Burnett, for the eight-part
television event, EXPEDITION AFRICA: STANLEY & LIVINGSTONE.
Explorers in the 19th century were the rock stars of their
day - and Dr. David Livingstone was the biggest of them
all. A true hero of his time and perhaps the greatest explorer
ever, he dedicated his life to stamping out slavery. Then,
he disappeared. After several years, the public's fascination
with his whereabouts reached a fever pitch. Enter American
journalist Henry Morton Stanley. Stanley had never been
to Africa - but he wanted the scoop, to find out and write
about what happened to Dr. Livingstone. He set off to find
Livingstone.
The four elite modern-day explorers in EXPEDITION relive
Stanley's perilous journey to find Dr. David Livingstone.
They are: navigator Pasquale Scaturro, wildlife expert Mireya
Mayor, survivalist Benedict Allen, and journalist Kevin
Sites. Together, they will confront obstacles and dangers
similar to those encountered by the great explorers before
them.
This new season follows some of the truckers from last season,
along with new drivers, as they haul essential equipment
and supplies to remote outposts across one of the world's
last great frontiers, the vaunted winter ice road that runs
over the frozen Arctic Ocean and the Mackenzie River in
the farthest reaches of the Northwest Territories. The long
history of survival here during the grueling winter months
has been and still is dependent on these ice roads. Although
technology has changed how they deal with the titanic forces
of nature of the Arctic Circle, the native people of the
region still live by their traditions and rich history.
Check out a preview below.
This season, fans are being encouraged to "prove their
fandom" by creating a video mash up of their favorite
scenes from all three seasons. Over 20 fans with the top

From
History and Original Productions, the same team responsible
for the mega hit, Ice Road Truckers, this series looks at
the legacy that the pioneers of our country laid for the
present and future generations of loggers.
Over the course of thirteen episodes, Ax Men follows
four logging crews through a season in the remote forests
of northwest Oregon. Plagued by mechanical failures, relentless
weather-including a hurricane that ripped through the area-
and violent and unpredictable terrain, these brave men risk
their lives retrieving the very timber we depend upon to
build our country. Snapped cables, runaway logs and treacherous
machinery are among the many dangers that threaten the lives
and safety everyday. Anything and everything can go wrong
on these sites and the price of even the simplest mistake
can mean death.
