Five
New Outdoor Family Activities
|
Are you looking for fun and affordable family
activities? If so, you're in luck - PCM has got you covered
with five ideas for family time that you (probably) haven't
thought of yet!
Number
One: Play in the Dirt
Question: When is the last time that you played in the dirt?
Answer: When you were a kid. When we grow up, we seem to forget
the simple joy that comes from being ultra-close to nature.
Put on some old clothes, grab your family, find a patch of dirt,
bring a hose, and go wild! Roll around; throw dirt clods, coat
your hands in mud and leave handprints on your family's clothes.
Forget about the laundry - release your inhibitions and live
in the moment!

Two: Make Some Outdoor Artwork
Pin up an old sheet to a clothesline (or a fence, or between
two trees - improvise!), grab some permanent paint, and go!
Use leaves, rocks, grass, flowers, or fingers as your paintbrushes.
Leave your art project outisde to dry overnight - in the morning,
you'll have a one-of-a-kind piece of artwork and enough family
memories to last a lifetime.
Number
Three: Berry, Apple, or Pumpkin Picking
If your family doesn't have time to grow a full-blown garden,
don't worry! Wait for a nice day and hit up a local orchard
or patch to pick locally-grown berries, apples, or pumpkins.
Everyone in the family will learn the value of agriculture,
and you'll come home with a delicious reward - it's a win-win!
Number
Four: Bring the Camera
How many times have you driven by that old building or field
on your way to work or school? Tons - but it's not always going
to be there. Grab your family and a disposable camera and document
your normal, daily commute. Develop the photos and glue them
to poster board or place them in a scrapbook - it will be nice
to have the memories of your daily life (as opposed to only
having photos from big events) as you get older.
Number
Five: Try an Outdoor Breakfast
We're all familiar with the lunch or dinner in the park or at
the beach - but why not try a breakfast? Pack your family's
favorite breakfast foods, some hot cocoa, a sweatshirt, and
a blanket and set up in your favorite outdoor location. You'll
beat the crowds, enjoy the world at its best, and you might
even catch a magnificent sunrise…what more could you ask for?
