The Best Fitness Products of the Year

By Alicia Tamayo

Are you constantly searching for new and better running shoes? Have you had it with shorts riding up, blisters on your feet, or a stinky gym bag? Stop wasting your time and money trying to find the best fitness products! We present you with the Health Gear Awards 2011: The Best Fitness Products of the Year. From running and walking shoes to workout apparel and pedometers, the Health Gear Awards has found the best of the best. Here are our favorites!

Best running shoes
K-Swiss Kwicky Blade-Light ($130; KSwiss.com)

Think you can't have a light-weight shoe and one that offers super-support all in one? Think again! These shoes seem to have it all - cushioning, arch support, stability, and comfort - all in one innovative light-weight shoe. This makes it a great shoe for long-distance running, but it's also great for speed and agility due to the angled treads that help you gain traction. They might be a little on the pricey side, but for a good shoe, it's about average these days.

Best Walking shoes
New Balance 860 ($90; NewBalance.com)

These have just the right balance of cushioning and support, with shock absorption and cushioning - plus an extra full length insert of removeable cushioning! The shoe provides a mesh upper to keep you dry and cool, plus and a flexible forefoot for extreme flexibility and movement. Also a great shoe for running.

Best trail running
Hi-Tec V-Lite Infinity HPi ($130; www.Hi-Tec.com)

This feather-light shoe is great for trail running, even on the rockiest of the trails. With it's cool design and named an "incredibly lightweight adventure sports shoe", who wouldn't want this shoe!?

Best Pedometer
Oregon Scientific/Gaiam Zone Trainer G3 ($110)

If you're trying to lose weight, you know how important a heart rate monitor/pedometer can be! This watch-style pedometer counts your steps, measures heart rate and tells how many calories you’ve burned.

Best workout short
Icebreaker Swift Short ($60; Icebreaker.com)

The Swift Short combines the breathability, temperature-control, odour-resistance and fast-drying properties with LYCRA® for fit and an even faster dry time. You'll love the forgiving elastic waist, not to mention the built-in liner, and an inside pocket for your iPod, keys, or whatever!

Best workout socks
Salomon XA Pro Ultra Cool ($11; SalomonSocks.com)

Finally, no more blisters! This is the perfect workout sock - it's thin, light, and breathable with a flat seam that won’t kill your toes. It provides maximum breathability, an anti-blister system and light cushioning to prepare you for intense exercise!

Best workout beverage
Gatorade G Series Fit 02 Perform ($1.49; Gatorade.com/gseriesfit)

During long or intense workouts, you're sweating up a storm (especially in the summer), so it's important to replenish the water and electrolytes you're sweating out. This Gatorade is a low calorie way to rehydrate and refuel with electrolytes, sodium and potassium, so you can get the most out of your workout. It tastes great and each bottle only has 20 calories.

Best gym bag
High Sierra 7139 Switch Blade ($35; Hssc.com)

This is one great gym bag - and only costs $35! Featuring a large, easy-access main compartment, a mesh-paneled wet compartment for shoes or laundry, a top-loading end compartment with CD/MP3 player pocket and headphone port, elastic shock cord and monster hook for attaching extra gear, and more. This bag really has it all without being too big and bulky.

Looking for something else? These are just our favorites of the fitness products - there are more! Check out more awards(best swimsuit, sports bra, etc) at Health.com!
