2000's Most Popular Song Hits
|
|
1. Who Let The Dogs Out - Baha Men - This song
was originally recorded for Shaggy but passed through hands
of hairdressers and producers to land in the paws of Baha
Men. From the Rugrats in Paris: The Movie, to their first
single, this track has won a Grammy and a position on numerous
Most Annoying Songs lists. University and professional sports
stadiums now play clips of the song for their mascots or
game openers. Young kids still know this song like it was
a current top 40 hit!
2. All The Small Things - Blink 182 - Some may argue
this to be Blink's signature song. Written by guitarist
Tom DeLonge, this hit was intended for his girlfriend at
the time. According to DeLonge, he meant to take this dedication
and add the flair of The Ramones.
3. Amazed - Lonestar - This country hit single dominated
the Billboard Hot Country list for weeks, making it the
biggest hit Lonestar has ever had. It wasn't until later
this song carried over into the pop category and streamed
radio waves. Even the UK found a liking to it, many newly-weds
use "Amazed" over any other song in their first
dance at weddings. This is a perfect example of a song that
had staying power after it's initial release.
4. Oops! I Did It Again - Britney Spears - This
song struck gold in numerous countries and brought Britney's
second album (titled after the song) to Diamond Record status.
The lyrics imply love being a game, accompanied by that
bubblegum tempo that we all know Britney so well for. However,
from this point on the audience, the public began to notice
that provocative turn that Spears' life began to take after
this hit.
5. Graduation - Vitamin C - Who can forget this
classical high school graduation tune. There is no doubt
that this was Vitamin C's biggest hit due to the many graduating
students who had this song on repeat, and as long as people
continue to graduate, this song will continue to play. Quality
perennial hits like this, with a seasonal theme (Graduation,
duh!) keep those royalty checks coming in!

Really weird that Hoku's release of Another Dumb Blonde
peaked at # 27, but her biggest Pop Culture Hit came out
in 2001 - Perfect Day (from
the film Legally Blonde) and didn't even crack the Billboard
Hot 100. Hoku's father is Hawaiin singer Don Ho.
