Guitars are the backbone of rock n roll music. Acoustic guitars
are a popular choice of instrument for many different performers,
particularly those in folk music or rock bands. Buying the right
acoustic guitar can make the difference between a great sounding
performance and mediocre one. For the novice, all acoustic guitars
may seem the same. This is definitely not the case. When looking
for acoustic guitars, there are several different things to consider
to be sure you purchase the best sounding guitar with the highest
quality.
First you'll need to decide whether or not you want a guitar
with nylon strings or steel. While both generally serve the same
purpose, they both have definitive and different sounds. You should
play a guitar with both types before deciding so you can choose
which sounds best for you and your band. Finding a body style
is also important, and there are many to choose from. Not all
acoustic
guitars are shaped the same, thus the reason that no two acoustic
guitars sound exactly alike.
The most common body style names for acoustic guitars are dreadnought,
jumbo, classic, NEX, and artist. While the names may sound a little
odd, each one has its own meaning. It's really all in how the
wood is cut and shaped. The body style will help players determine
which one is easiest to play and hold for them, as well as which
body style will sound the way they want it to.
In addition to the body style, tone woods are also important
factors. Tone woods are the various types of woods (such as spruce
or cedar) used to make the guitar. These woods are incorporated
into the soundboard, top, neck, frets, and back. The various woods
used to make acoustic guitars say a lot about their quality and
sound, so do your research on this topic to find the best wood
for your needs.
Acoustic guitars make beautiful music,
and with some knowledge under your belt, you'll be able to make
a great choice when you buy yours.
