► Thanksgiving is always the fourth Thursday in November
► The Wednesday night before Thanksgiving is traditionally
one of the biggest 'drinking' nights of the year, second only
to St. Patricks's Day (March 17th)
► Althiough a 'Harvest Holiday" celebrated by
many cultures, in the United States and Canada (2nd Monday
in October), there is a religious undertone of "Thanks"
to God.
► There are officially 30 shopping days until Christmas
► The first Thanksgiving in North America was on September
8, 1565 in St. Augustine, Florida. The English settlers celebrated
Thanksgiving on December 4, 1619, near Jamestown Virginia.
The Pilgrims celebrated their first harvest in 1621, but they
did not hold a true Thanksgiving until 1623.
