PCM Interview with Bad Flirt

(March 2009) - PCM's writer Kristyn Clarke spoke with Canadian band Bad Flirt during the band's tour throughout The United States. Their latest album, Virgin Talk, was released in Canada in October via Kartel/Universal Music. Wondering where you may have heard about Bad Flirt? Bad Flirt garnered the attention of twin actresses Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, who proclaimed in the media that Bad Flirt was their favorite new band. Visit the band's official site !

The immediate critical acclaim of Virgin Talk, including a spot on Punknews.org's Top 20 Punk albums of 2008, lead to many more opportunities. Some of these opportunities included a headlining spot at Toronto's Virgin Fest alongside the Foo Fighters, Against Me! And MGMT.

Kristyn talked to Evan from Bad Flirt about how they met in Montreal, their album, touring and much more! Check out some Q&A to get to know this cool band better!

Q: How has the fan feedback been in regards to your album?

A: It's so lovely. We're so flattered. It's cool that people want to buy our record. We know people are buying it on iTunes and that's so great for us.

Q: What is the writing process for you guys? What inspires your artistically?

A: Well, on the last record, there was a lot of sadness to it. A lot of deep issues about innocence and growing up. Not being able to be a kid anymore and face reality. After a few hours of just brainstorming and working together, you just get a song. It's cool!

Q: How does it feel to get out and play some live tour dates? What are some things you can't live without while out on the road?

A: I don't like staying still, it's nice to get out there and play. We're happy out on the road and looking forward to it. Everyone loves their coffee and definitely the Internet. Got to love the Blackberry!

Q: How was it to hear that the Olsen twins were into you guys?

A: It was awesome until they dropped us like a bad habit! (laughs) They are nice girls and we didn't expect anything to come from it but for about 25 min, it was cool to be a part of their world! We got more attention but eventually you know... it was done. Ha!

Q: Typical interview question, how did you come up with your name, Bad Flirt?

A: Some of us are just not suave.. ha! It just kind of stuck. If you ever met us, you'd be like, "Hey, you suck at picking me up!" We're terrible at chatting, I guess!

Q: If you could share the stage with one performer, who would it be?

A: Maybe My Bloody Valentine would be cool! We could play like a fun secret show with them, that'd be awesome!
