Interview with Eric Hutchinson

(October 8, 2008) - PCM's writer Julie Kissane spoke to singer-songwriter Eric Hutchinson.
Eric's newest album Sounds Like This was released on Hutchinson's own label, Let's Break Records, at the end of August 2007. His songs are charismatic and creative, his lyrics are spunky and thought provoking! PCM is definitely a fan of this guy, we're really feeling him!

(Riding the subway with the scent of her hair/ She took out a toothbrush started using it there/ She explained "I'm always sure today's the day I will die/ I wanna look good if I get to look God in the eye"/ And I said "Oh!") - from Hutchinson's song, "Oh!"

Hutchinson was recently hailed as "a new pop sensation" by Entertainment Weekly and is set to release an exclusive iTunes edition of his debut album, Sounds Like This. It will be released on October 14th featuring two bonus tracks -- "OK, It's Alright With Me" and "You Don't Have To Believe Me" -- that Hutchinson recorded earlier this year while guesting on NPR's "World Cafe."

Overnight it was breaking records - thanks largely to the efforts of a good friend. One of his high school buddies emailed celebrity blogger Perez Hilton a link to Hutchinson's MySpace page. Hilton recommended it on his site and soon, Eric's album was ensconced in iTunes' Top 10 alongside the latest releases from Kanye West and Dave Matthews. Check out Eric's official site !

Eric and Julie spoke about what it was like to be catapulted to the top of the charts by Perez Hilton, the way he goes about writing lyrics, touring and even joked about Halloween costumes! (It is October after all!) Hutchinson is currently on tour so check his website to see if he's coming to a town near you! Check out the audio stream below:
