Jason McPherson PCM Interview

Jason McPherson

PCM Interview by Joe Hummel

We spoke with Whitney Perry (PCM Interview) a few months back, and it turns out her fiance, Jason McPherson is turning more than a few heads as well. In addition to standing by (attentively) while Whitney makes plans for the wedding, Jason has been playing basketball, modeling, acting and working with his lovely fiance with their jewelry line. Somehow, he found the time to let us know what's been going on...

Joe: One phrase I see and hear about you is "down to earth." What keeps you grounded?

Jason: The people I surround myself with play the biggest role in keeping me grounded. If I ever start to get a big head about anything they will bring me back down to Earth very quickly. But honestly, I usually take everything as it is and don't take myself too seriously.

Regarding your engagement to Whitney Perry, you've been quoted as saying "It's Whitney's wedding, I'm just along for the ride." That's always true for the groom, but there is always some token task 'the guy' has to do. What is yours?

Well, I'm pretty sure that my only task in the whole wedding will be to select the groomsmen. She has literally taken care of everything else. She's great!

I know you are keeping "the location" secret for your wedding, but surely you can tell us the date...

We've made a decision to keep the date private, but I can tell you that it most likely will take place on a yacht. Bring your bathing suits!

You've played pro basketball with the ABA Kentucky Bisons. What got you involved in B-ball?

Well I grew up playing ball everyday, and that just carried over to my adult life. It was a dream come true to be able to do what I love for a living, and to play alongside some great athletes. Also to represent my home state was unbelievable.

While playing for the Bisons, I'm guessing you had your share of (often young) fans. Do you see any responsibility for yourself or other pros as role models?

Anytime you are in the public eye you have a responsibility to conduct yourself in a respectable manner. You have younger kids that want to be just like you and you don't want to let them down. Some people like to say that they didn't sign up to become role models, but the truth is they are whether they like it or not.

You obviously love the sport, what made you change course into the modeling thing?

I still love basketball and watch it nearly everyday, I just felt like it was time for something new. I had been doing a little modeling while playing ball so it seemed like a natural transition.

Pro sports, modeling, now business. How involved are you with the jewelry biz with Whitney?

I'm the face of one jewerly line, The Jewelry Box, alongside Whitney and will be doing some work on another line that she is the face of, Lolipop Glass. Both are amazing.

Jewelry? C'mon dude....

Haha. These lines have great items for guys. From cuff links to tie pins to belt buckles, every man can find something to help him look his best!

How do you keep your business with Whitney separate from your home life? It can be difficult...

We had an agreement from the beginning to keep business and personal life separate. We have conversations as co-workers and other conversations as a couple. We just don't bring business home.

What's next, Jason?
