(November 2008) - PCM's Kristyn Clarke recently had the wonderful opportunity to sit down and chat with new Style network star, Ruby! She was an amazing and inspirational woman to speak to over the phone! She's got such a wonderful outlook on life and we want to spread her positivity over to you, reader!

Tune into The Style Network to watch Ruby Gettinger begin her incredible journey to lose weight! This November, Style's cameras will follow Ruby's personal journey to lose weight, get healthy and battle discrimination on the new and highly-anticipated reality series "Ruby." With no-holds-barred honesty and unwavering optimism, Ruby shares her story, including her past and present battle with obesity, her struggle to find the lost memories of her childhood and her reunion with an ex-boyfriend who broke her heart.

Tune into the show and check out her journey for yourself! It looks like it's going to be amazing! PCM wants to give you all the latest info on Ruby now! Check out our Q&A with her and enjoy!

Q: How did you first become approached with the idea of doing the show?

Ruby: Well, what happened first was, I started doing a documentary. I saw overweight woman that were on Oprah and they weren't as big as me but they were woman that were crying on the show saying they never wanted to go out or go to the mall because people would make fun of them, etc. Something just hit me and I had to find out the reason for this. I was the opposite, I always went out and people stared at me but I was always out. I wanted to enjoy my life and enjoy my family and friends. My heart went out to them. I looked on the internet and saw how many people in America are suffering from obesity. I thought, "Oh my gosh, let me make a documentary and do this and have people watch me lose weight." To make a long story short, I was doing the documentary and a friend told someone I was doing it and they approached Style with it. They believed in me and in wanting to help other people.

Q: What would you recommend for people that can't recommend the gyms, the personal trainers and the health foods? That can get so expensive!

Ruby: I'm so glad you mentioned that! I'm learning through the trainers on the show, that eventually I won't have when the show's done, real lifestyle tips and how to learn to do this on my own. I have to go and learn how to cook the healthy foods and when to work out. I'm starting to working out, it's hard, does anyone really, really love it? I have started doing tennis and I like that! I know that once I get started and used to it, it will become a lifestyle for me. Weight is a silent killer. I don't want to be like this, I know there needed to be a change. Just walk! You don't need to walk a marathon, just start walking at least 4 times a week, start off little. I started going up and down the driveway but it made a difference for me because I was so big. It's all mental, too.

Q: How much of a lifestyle change was it for you to have cameras around all the time documenting your daily life?

Ruby: Well, when I first started, I thought I'd just be the little guinea pig and I'd have my friends video tape me. When Style came, I was fine and then I was like, "Am I crazy? What am I doing?" They were so non-judgemental and almost became family. After a little while, I didn't even know they were there anymore. They had the perfect people doing the job. It was funny! There is such a prejudice against obesity, some people just can't stand obese people. I was so nervous but they were such nice people. I just wanted people to see how to beat this, to get over this addiction. It is an addiction. I had to find out and take this journey. It's amazing how many people are out there that struggle with the same thing. It's a journey for everyone. I want everyone to learn what I'm learning for the first time. No matter what size you are, live your life and don't let weight define you.

Q: What a great attitude!

Ruby: I really believe that, I've had some mean people say horrible things to me. Get over it, you know? Don't let society judge you. I don't understand the cruelty that some people have for people that are my size. I know that someone has to know someone that is a bit overweight! I want that to change. I just want people to move and get healthy like I am, it's a hard journey. Don't let your weight, your addiction, your flaws define who you are!

By the way, PCM does NOT allow sneaky spyware. Nor do we link to sites that have excessive Pop-ups, spyware or inappropriate (all ages) material. If you find one, please let us know and they are toast!
Also, since we don't "sell out" to those Pop-up advertisers, and we're too proud (so far) to ask for donations, we'd like to proudly point out some of our carefully chosen advertisers throughout the site. They have some cool stuff that should be sitting in your room, or wrapped like a present for a friend.
Please check 'em out!
