Richards nixes racism
rehab for move to Cambodia
July 2007 - Almost eight months after his racist
rant in a Hollywood nightclub, Michael Richards - better
known as Kramer on "Seinfeld" - has decided to
nix the ever-popular rehab route in favor of a trip to Cambodia.
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Richards
said, "That night, when I was insulted and disrupted,
I lost my heart; I lost my sense of humor." He said
he has decided to retire from standup. " I'm taking
time off to... get to know myself and appreciate other people."
Although he denies seeking a spiritual awakening, Richards
and his fiancée, actress Beth Skipp, are accompanying
a group from the LA-based Nithyananda Foundation, which
supports Hinduism.
