The words healthcare and comedy aren't usually found
in the same sentence, but in Academy Award - winning director
Michael Moore's latest film SiCKO, they go together hand

Moore has proven to be one of the most provocative, fearless
and witty filmmakers of our time. His newest film, the
informative yet inconceivable, entertaining yet disturbing
and saddening yet inspiring documentary SiCKO sheds light
on a sickening issue. With almost 50 million Americans
uninsured and those who are insured, often victims of
unfair restrictions for care, Moore takes a gentler, bi-partisan
approach to inform, inspire and touch the hearts of his
audience to call for a systematic change of action. With
heart-wrenching and empathy-provoking testimonies from
both patients and former insurance company employees,
SiCKO depicts the frustrations and difficulties of the
inability to obtain treatment and life-saving care when
desperately needed due to the inevitabilities of a for-profit
healthcare system. The SiCKO DVD features over 80 minutes
of all-new material including seven new segments, as well
as eye-opening interviews, and more.

Well, Michael Moore has certainly done
it again, this time by turning the world of healthcare and
HMO's upside and then beating it repeatedly with a stick.
Love him or hate him, he is definitely one to get an audiences
blood boiling, in a good or bad way. In his latest film Sicko,
Moore rips the U.S. healthcare system up one side and down
the other. The documentary focuses on saddening stories of
individuals who have had their healthcare claims denied and
the toll these medical denials have taken on these individuals
and their families. Most of the film's focus is also on how
much better the healthcare industry is in other countries
such as England, France, and Cuba.
I was astonished to see the ease in which individuals received
care in these other countries, that we are taught are supposed
to be our enemies. It was often times difficult to watch the
sick and ailing 9/11 relief workers portrayed in the film,
as they were continually denied healthcare in the country,
thank you Michael Moore for assisting these true heroes get
the medical assistance and attention they truly deserve. It
is difficult not to take an opinionated stance on this film,
due to the fact that you either agree whole-heartedly with
Mr. Moore, or disagree vehemently. Overall, a well made film
that focuses on a failing system within our country and I
hope that the film is able to open more viewers eyes to this
issue, as it did mine.
