The Darjeeling Limited
About the Film:

Three American brothers who have not spoken to one another in a year set off on a train voyage across India with a plan to find themselves and bond with each other - to become brothers again like they used to be. Their "spiritual quest" however, veers rapidly off-course and they eventually find
themselves stranded alone in the middle of the desert with eleven suitcases, a printer and a laminating machine. At this moment, a new, unplanned journey suddenly begins.

REVIEW by Jean:
Wes Anderson’s films are definitely an acquired taste. The Darjeeling Limited parallels many other comedic quest-seeking road trips. Anderson’s adaptation follows three emotionally unstable brothers Francis (Owen Wilson), Peter (Adrien Brody), and Jack (Jason Schwartzman) on a train. Although the plot is not totally original, I must accredit Anderson with the full circle conclusion of the film.

It contains reminiscences of a classic novel, something that seems to be almost lost in today’s society. Regardless, the film almost seems underdeveloped. Most of the film is dedicated to revealing these characters, and only shows the growth the brothers in the last 30 minutes. The comedy of this film, though, can only be appreciated by fans of Wes Anderson; at the most humorous times of this film I was only able to produce a smile.

The artistry of this film is simply breathtaking. The beautiful landscape and vivid colors captured by Anderson truly shows India in a new light. The combination of the soundtrack and the camera shots presents a significant character that has no dialogue. Overall, this movie is charming and entertaining. It is in no way a blockbuster film, but is a sweet artistic tale.
