ASSSSCAT! marks the comedy group's second foray into DVD and TV, following their self-titled cult hit on Comedy Central, the 1998-2000 series, Upright Citizens Brigade.

In 1996, The Upright Citizens Brigade began performing their now-legendary long-form improv show, ASSSSCAT!, at various venues throughout New York City. The show became an instant hit selling out week after week. Each performance stars the four members of the Upright Citizens Brigade Matt Besser, Amy Poehler, Ian Roberts and Matt Walsh, with special guest performers from shows such as Saturday Night Live, Mad TV, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, The Colbert Report, 30 Rock and The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. On July 25, 2006, ASSSSCAT! celebrated 10 years of uninterrupted performances with a sold out show at Irving Plaza in New York.
