Who's Your Monkey?
Reveiw by Sean
Four down on their luck childhood friends down on their luck
have to get rid of a drug dealer/animal porn director through
a series of twist events all with the dead guy's monkey thrown
into the mix.
The movie is a classic mix of unexpected twists, sticky situations
and cyclical guy-banter as the four friends try to get rid of
the body and straighten out their lives.
It's a standard plot, where all the separate pieces climax in
one singular event. In between there are quirky characters,
cheap laughs, and standard guy humor - nagging women, beer,
joints, and porn.
The down side of this movie is that it really doesn't make that
much sense. The introduction doesn't set up much of the background
information, so character situations have to be gathered from
small hints in dialogue. As the movie goes on a lot of the events
are random. The key example is the monkey, and the seemingly
ambiguous ending.
The racy guy humor focuses in on the major theme of the movie:
that guys, although they can act mature at times, never really
grow up. Why do we go for cheap laughs with potty humor? Because
guys think it's funny.
This movie takes cheap laughs to a new level. The running joke
is that all the characters say the big one liner "isn't
that funny." Well guess what guys? That goes for the whole
movie. |

loner who seems to be at the edge of a mental breakdown. All
of this changes when Lar's introduces his new "girlfriend"
Bianca to his family and small town community, however Biana
is a life-like Real Doll, not an actual person. (More...)
