Junkie says, "Nicole did such a wonderful job on it.
And it gives the record a different energy than it might otherwise
possess. It reminds me of something that should be in a Tarantino
film." There's also the ground-quaking "Clash"
which seems like the ideal tune to supplant Gary Glitter's
"Rock & Roll Part II" at sporting events; a
instantly catchy pop song "Not Enough" (which features

Toy"; and the funky "Stump"-which boasts a
hook built around 1950's film dialogue.

lead guitarist Chad Gilbert (formerly of hardcore band
Shai Hulud), guitarist Steve Klein, bassist Ian Grushka

with 2000's self-titled album. Including the Top 20 Modern
Rock hit "Hit or Miss" as well as "Dressed
To Kill," the album was boosted by a tour with Blink-182,
sold-out headlining tours, and a spot on the Warped Tour,

► Get
Awkward is the sophomore full-length from Nashville
foursome Be Your Own Pet. Making it presented new challenges
for Jonas, Jemina, Nathan, and John, and yielded some surprises.
The songs remain fast and loud, totally wired and tantalizingly
brief. Applying the dubious word "mature" is open
for heated debate – string arrangements and soppy ballads
are blessedly absent – but the music definitely reflects
a sharp increase in experience.

► Love Out Loud:
Jaci Velasquez - award-winning singer Jaci Velasquez

date, Jaci shows her growth as a songwriter, teaming up with

Records.

► Five
Times August - On January 15,indie rocker extraordinaire
Five Times August (aka Brad Skistimas) digitally released
"The Good Life,' the new single from his sophomore album
'Brighter Side' (out March 18). A carefree and infectiously
catchy melody about lounging in bed on a lazy morning, with
echoes of fellow tunesmiths John Mayer and Fountains of Wayne,
the song has already become a big hit with FTA's extensive
online fanbase since posting in late December.
'The Good Life' marks the first time Five Times August has
collaborated on a song, and his writing partner just happens
to be his manager and wife! He explains, "I had composed
the melody in 2003 but had writer's block on words to the
chorus. We were spending a day at home and as I was playing
the tune on guitar, Kelly looked around and started singing
what she saw: 'white blinds, bed sheets, sunlight' and then
voila... chorus!" Visit the band on Myspace
and join their online
street team.
