Barenaked Ladies - Talk to the Hand: Live in Michigan
Release information:

Please visit the Official Site

Stand up and speak to the hand! Canada's favorite sons, Barenaked Ladies, cross the border for their first-ever live DVD Talk To The Hand: Live In Michigan, available in stores on November 6 alongside their new live CD by the same name.

One of the top touring acts in North America, the live album and DVD format were invented for bands like the Barenaked Ladies, whose devoted fans (The Bare Nakeds) drove their podcasts to #1 on the US and Canadian iTunes charts, bought 10 million of their albums and helped propel three albums to platinum status and three more to gold. Their fans are also an important part of every Barenaked Ladies concert, as the band members often stop the show to strike up conversations with someone in the audience, singing impromptu songs about them or asking them who they're talking to on their cell phone.

Filmed June 15th, 2007 at the DTE Energy Music Theatre in Clarkston, MI in front of 15,000 fans, Talk To The Hand… contains a mix of the band's biggest hits such as their chart-topping "One Week," and "If I Had $1,000,000," as well as some fan favorites like "Powder," and a selection of newer tracks off the band's most recent releases. Consumers will have a choice of purchasing the concert live on CD with a companion live DVD in the same package, or buying the DVD separately.

Talk To The Hand: Live In Michigan will be released in environmentally friendly packaging, a decision driven by both Shout! Factory and Barenaked Ladies. The green friendly packaging is a natural connection as Barenaked Ladies are known for their environmental activism. The 4-Panel DVD Digipak will be printed on Cascades Prokote paperboard which is processed chlorine free and made of 100% recycled fibers and up to 55% post-consumer recycled material. The tray is made by a Dutch company called Paperfoam and is a fairly new product first becoming available in 2006. The trays are 100% biodegradable and made from a combination of starch, cellulose and water (commonly known as potatoes). This package will also have the 100% recycled logo and a statement about the trays. The inks used in the printing are vegetable based inks. The 6-Panel CD Folder will hold both a CD and DVD along with a 6-page booklet. The folder is printed on Cascades Prokote paperboard which is made of 100% recycled fibers and up to 55% post-consumer recycled material. Additionally, the board is processed chlorine free, is recyclable and biodegradable, and the inks used in the printing are vegetable based.

In keeping with the band's quirky sense of humor, their chosen title of Talk To The Hand:Live In Michigan comes from the comical observation that the state of Michigan is shaped like a hand. One of the great touring bands known for their huge live concert following, the DVD/CD captures the band's amazing relationship and interaction with their fans. Talk To The Hand… contains extras such as a backstage interview with the band, an animated photo gallery, and a bonus song from the soundcheck.

Barenaked Ladies are Steven Page, Ed Robertson, Tyler Stewart, Jim Creeggan and Kevin Hearn. The band formed in Toronto, Canada, as teenagers and released their first album in 1991, titled Yellow Tape, which became the only independent release to go platinum in Canada. The band's mix of solid pop and comic relief have entertained crowds internationally, allowing them to become bonafide popstars. The band received a Grammy®-nomination for their hit "Pinch Me" in 2001. The Barenaked Ladies are still going strong, having released Barenaked Ladies Are Me and Barenaked Ladies Are Men in 2006 & 2007, respectively.
