Joseph Arthur EP Series
About the Album:
Temporary People

Joseph Arthur and his band The Lonely Astronauts release their second LP, Temporary People on Lonely Astronaut Records.

That the video was filmed at the MOMAR is significant because one year to the day of its opening, the Museum of Modern Arthur is being kicked out by the city of New York. We'd like to let everyone know that they are invited to stop by and celebrate as we blow out the MOMAR with one last exhibit - “The Closing Opening” - and a performance by Joseph Arthur & the Lonely Astronauts.

Could We Survive

Joseph Arthur, NY-based song-crafter and visual artist extraordinaire will be releasing a series of four solo EPs, all leading up to the glorious month of August, when the series culminates with the release of a full-length record featuring his band, The Lonely Astronauts.

The deluge begins with the release of EP 1: Could We Survive (Lonely Astronaut) a 6-track collection of orchestral songscapes and gorgeous atmospheric pop written, performed and produced by Arthur. Could We Survive opens with "Rages of Babylon," the kind of timeless anthem only Joseph could write, which you should definitely check out.

6/10/08 Update:

Today, June 10, Joseph Arthur and his label Lonely Astronaut Records unveil Vagabond Skies, the third EP in the four-EP prelude to his September 16 full-length, Temporary People.

"It's almost like the '50s again when it was all about singles,” says Joseph. “I’ve always liked the EP because it has a looseness to it. I think songs work best off of each other.” Vagabond Skies is the most ethereal of the EP series thus far. Opening with the transcendental pop of "Slow Me Down" and ending with the gorgeously delicate “It's Too Late,” the album plays like an otherworldly suite with one song bleeding to the next. Among the songscapes is a haunting studio version of “She Paints Me Gold,” one of Joseph’s most requested and never-before-released songs.

Check out his summer tour schedule here.

Crazy Rain

EP 2 of 4: the wonderfully melodic and chaotic, near-techno Crazy Rain is out. Crazy Rain features the track "Nothin 2 Hide" featuring Greg Dulli (Afghan Whigs/Twilight Singers/Gutter Twins). We will be celebrating the release with a rare solo performance, special guests and a party.

Foreign Girls

Joseph Arthur's fourth and final EP, Foreign Girls, is out now. All four EPs -- Could We Survive, Crazy Rain, Vagabond Skies and now Foreign Girls - are really a double album-in-disguise, hailed by the Boston Globe as, "charming folk-rock to lo-fi bedroom pop to spacey orchestral maneuvers in the dark - often within the span of a single EP." The EP series is a prelude to Temporary People, the second LP by Joseph Arthur & the Lonely Astronauts.
