I Am the Cosmos

Rhino Handmade is releasing Chris Bell's I Am the Cosmos (Deluxe), a 2-CD set packaged in a 6-panel digipak. It will feature new notes from Alec Palao and David Bell and many never-before-seen photos. This release will be available exclusively on rhinohandmade.com. The first 1,000 orders will receive an exclusive reproduction of the original 7" single featuring "I am the Cosmos / Youand Your Sister."

This founding member of Big Star recorded just one complete solo album, but didn't live to see its release. A 45-rpm single featuring the songs "I am the Cosmos" and "You and Your Sister" was released on Car Records in 1978 just prior to his death in December of that year. The full-length album I am the Cosmos didn't see a release until 1992 on the Ryko label. This deluxe edition builds on that '92 release to include previously unissued songs from Chris's pre-Big Star bands, Icewater and Rock City. Also featured are previously unissued alternate versions from I am the Cosmos sessions and post-Big Star tracks.
