Josh Hartnett has made his way back to the big screen! This time, instead of starring in a cheesy teenage movie (roles that he's best known for), he's making a big statement starring as Tom Sterling, a young dot-com entrepreneur. He demands attention with his character's rock star persona and to-the-point dialogue. Hartnett seems to have matured tremendously as an actor. He looks and sounds older and more sophisticated. Not only that, he completely transforms into what a young, no-nonsense, New York City businessman acts like. His character is stylish, rich and sharp-tounged without looking like he tries too hard.

While the screenplay itself is a little confusing to follow, the overall storyline is exciting and keeps its audience interested. The problem I found was the movie assumes that every person is very knowledgeable on plunging stock prices, Internet markets and consumer demands. Sorry, I'm not one of those people. However, I was still able to understand what was going on, and that was the downfall of the entrepreneur's Internet company, Landshark. Its demise effects his relationship with his brother (Adam Scott), his former girlfriend (Naomie Harris), and his co-workers (Robin Tunney).

The chemistry between Hartnett and newcomer Naomi Harris is believable and undeniably sweet. The pair behaves like any of us would around a former boyfriend/girlfriend/lover. Awkward. Scared. Yet feelings for eachother still remain. The softness and vulnerability that her character brings out in the hardened and guarded Tom Sterling is as heartbreaking as it is charming.

David Bowie makes a brief cameo in the film and his short appearance marks the turning point and climax of the film. Other critics in the audience seemed to all smile when Bowie came on screen. Interesting. What Bowie's character offers young Tom Sterling is an offer that changes the course of the movie and ultimately provides a great ending. An ending that provides some answers and relief to the audience.

Overall, the film is beautifully edited and has a great soundtrack to go along with the views and streets of bustling New York City. It is Harnett that carries the movie, no doubt. His character is the most convincing, the most passionate and the one that you want to see either succeed or fail in the end. It wasn't the most riveting thing I've ever seen but it kept me preoccupied for an hour and 1/2 (which is actually short for a new movie these days!)
