Voices
Of Rock MMV11
|
► Locomotive
Records will release a triumvirate of
heavy metal on March 4 when the eclectic label
drops the multi-artist Voices Of Rock MMV11
compilation, Chasing Shadows by Empire and Unlocking
The Past by Jorn. Voices Of Rock MMV11 is a
collaboration from two of Germany's finest producers
of Melodic Rock: Chris Lausmann (Bonfire, Jaded
Heart) and Michael Voss (Mad Max, Casanova).
Collectively, they composed and produced all
10 tracks, each featuring a different vocalist.
(More..)
With an instrumental lineup of
Voss on guitar, Lausman on guitar, bass and
keyboards, Bertram Engel on drums, andAngel
G.Schleifer/Tommy Denander on lead guitars,
the incredible vocal lineup is as follows…James
Christian (House Of Lords), Jean Beauvoir (Plasmatics,
Crown of Thorns), Goran Edman (Yngwie, Street
Talk), Gary Barden (MSG), Harry Hess (Harem
Scarem), Robin Beck, Terry Brock (Strangeways,
Slamer), Dan Reed, Steve Overland (FM, Shadowman)
and Johnny Gioli (Axel Rudi Pell, Hardline).
Chasing Shadows is Empire's fourth album. The
band is the brainchild of German guitarist Rolf
Munkes. New singer Doogie White comes from Ritchie
Blackmore's Rainbow and also sings for both
Yngwie and Cornerstone. Bassist extraordinaire
Neil Murray (Gary Moore, Black Sabbath, Whitesnake)
holds down the bottom while drummer Mike Terrana
(Masterplan) is on the kit. The album is the
logical next step after their Raven Ride. White,
who replaces vocalist Tony Martin, adds soul
and color to an already intoxicating brew. Guitarist
Munkes also produces.
Jorn is the solo project of one Jorn Lande,
born in Norway in 1968. This singer/songwriter
has toured with various bands, and, most recently,
teamed up with Symphony X's Russell Allen for
The Revenge album. Now, with Unlocking The Past,
he calls upon all his experience with the likes
of Yngwie, Joe Lynn Turner, Deep Purple's Don
Airey, Scorpion Uli Jon Roth and many other
rock greats to make a career-defining retrospective
album which includes both originals and covers.
Some of these tracks were left off previous
albums. Others were first heard as "bonus"
tracks. Also included are remixings of "Burn"
and "The Day The Earth Caught Fire"
from Jorn's Starfire debut. With the release
of Unlocking The Past, Jorn has come full-circle.
