I will admit that I never listen to Christian rock
because, to me, it sounds like 80s bands that try
way too hard to produce good albums on nonexistent
salaries. I find naming the genre "Christian
Rock" as hypocrisy because they hardly ever rock.
This album really surprised me. There was hardly any
presence of hokey synthesizer that Christian-rockers
try to pass off as a band. The music was real, and
that I have respect for.
As a concept I loved this album. The rain motif was
present throughout all of the music. The rain storyline
was present throughout the whole album, Brown set
it up and he stuck to it. The music itself moves like
a passing storm passing over the listener. In order
to get the full effect of the album you have to listen
to it in its entirety. The fragments do not do justice
to the whole thing.
This is a solid album. The concept is solid and very
well carried out. It sounds good but everything also
goes along with the theme expressed in the lyrics.
Everything is in place; each piece works as a part
of the greater whole.
