| Joseph Arthur - Crazy Rain |
|
|
|
Review By Sean
He definately got crazy right. The songs had the same
structural integrity of "Could We Survive"
except the album was executed in a way that made everything
sound like a bad acid trip. It was like Arthur was
trying to be like Beck - go for the acid folk angle,
except Arthur got some bad stuff.
The songs would sound great if the heavy distortion
was taken off of everything, including Arthur's voice.
My main problem with this album is that nothing was
real, everything had to be distorted. I liked Arthur
for his bluntness in "Could We Survive,"
and he ruined his sincerity with this album.

Review By Sean
Joseph Arthur is a singer/songwriter that I don't want
to throw things at. In a world where any fool with a
guitar and a microphone can call themselves a singer/songwriter
it's refreshing to listen to on that actually knows
what they're doing. Arthur not only knows what he's
doing, but he does it well.
The songs are refreshing. They remain true to the acoustic
folk rock genre, but he doesn't try to be Dylan. The
music has its own sound not a textbook copy of the "true"
genre. Arthur's provocative guitar parts and lyrics
make you listen and keep you attentive. I especially
liked the harmonica on the first track. It wasn't overbearing
and made an excellent addition to the already wonderful
album.
