A few may remember that Norwegian born singer / songwriter
Marion Raven was half of the now defunct pop duo M2M.
A few more may remember her duet with Meat Loaf on "It's
All Coming Back To Me Now" from the hit album "Bat
Out Of Hell III." Many may have missed Raven's
first album, but the girl singer has grown into a sexy
young woman who apparently has a lot to say on "Set
Me Free."
"Set Me Free" is a pretty solid, polished
pop/rock album, with tracks that are as catchy as
they are sincere and production that's slick and artistic.
Raven's image is very much prepackaged, and the fact
that she is easy on the eyes is played to full advantage,
but that does not get in the way of the strong songwriting
that showcases a strong voice edged with angst. Raven
has some pipes, and is at her best when she's singing
(not screaming), but the louder tracks are the catchier
ones. "Set Me Free" is a great indication
of what Raven is capable of. As Nikki Six (Motley
Crue) said, "she's got what it takes."
