Valerie Bertinelli to Star in Pilot for New TBS Comedy Series
From Successful Sitcom Writer/Executive Producer Dave Caplan

Sitcom about Single Mother Running a Business
Is Inspired by Events in Caplan's Own Life

Valerie Bertinelli is returning to the world of sitcoms. She has just signed to star in a new comedy pilot for TBS from writer/executive producer Dave Caplan, whose credits include TBS's highly popular sitcom The Bill Engvall Show, as well as George Lopez and The Drew Carey Show. The as-yet-untitled sitcom centers on a single mother trying to run a business while raising two children. The premise of the show is inspired by events in Caplan's own life. Caplan wrote the pilot script and will serve as executive producer along with Original Film's Neal Moritz (The Fast and the Furious, I Am Legend) and Vivian Cannon (Thief). Bertinelli will serve as producer. The project comes to TBS from Sony Pictures Television.
The Caplan project follows the life of a woman who manages to get through the day with surprisingly good humor despite very difficult circumstances: Her husband walks out, leaving her with two kids and a struggling lumberyard. It will take every ounce of energy she has to keep both her household and her business afloat, while facing obstacles at every turn.

Tyler Perry's HOUSE OF PAYNE

TBS is closing out summer in a big way with an all-day marathon of episodes from Tyler Perry's HOUSE OF PAYNE, ad-supported cable's #1 original sitcom. The 10-hour, 20-episode collection chronicles the romance between Calvin, played by NAACP Image Award winner Lance Gross, and Miranda, played by Keshia Knight Pulliam. It kicks off at 10 a.m. with the two-part "Sad, Sad Leroy Brown" and concludes with the two-part season finale, "We've Come This Far by Faith," in which the couple finally prepares to walk down the aisle, but not before a house full of surprises.

Set in Atlanta, this highly popular series features LaVan Davis as fireman Curtis "Pops" Payne, a man who believes his house should be his castle, he the king and his wife, Ella (Cassi Davis), the queen. Unfortunately, their castle has turned into Grand Central Terminal, thanks to one son and his family moving in and another son spending much of his time mooching off his parents.

And the entire gang confronts the reality that with Bobby's marriage, they will be entering a new phase in their relationship with one another.
