College
Fashion: How and What to Pack
|
|
It's August already and any self-respecting, summer-lamenting
college student knows what that means: time to do some back
to school shopping and then the often difficult job of packing.
So
we're here to attempt to make these final weeks of summer
a little less harrowing with a couple helpful tips of what
to pack to make your fall semester not just an academic success
but a fashionable one.
Layers are your friend.
Layers, particularly given the wacky whether we've had this
year, allow you to pack clothes that can serve as multi-seasonal
and generally don't take up much room in the suitcase or dorms.
If you're heading back to school in August, this is especially
true. Just because school starts doesn't mean the weather
will break. If you bring layers with you to school, you can
be prepared for both the warmer and the cooler days of Fall.
Dresses and cutoff shorts when it's still in the 80s are the
perfect campus wear to pair with leggings and cardigans for
those chilly days later in the semester.
Comfort is key.
Whether you're sitting in class, lounging on your bed, or
meeting up with friends at the cafeteria, the last thing you
want is to be stuck in a stiff and uncomfortable outfit. That
doesn't mean you should go everywhere in your pajamas or your
favorite sweats from home, but if you go to class dressed
like you're ready to go out to the local bar, you'll stick
out just as much.
The
cheaper the better.
You are a college student, after all. And whether it's the
gloom of impending student loans or the constant depletion
on your meal card, it won't hurt to save a few pennies by
opting for less expensive clothing. But don't worry, cheap
is used strictly in the monetary sense. There are many burgeoning
clothing lines like Madonna's Material Girl, Selena Gomez's
Dream Out Loud, and the Miley Cyrus & Max Azria line and
inexpensive stores like Forever 21 that makes saving money
chic and simple.
If you're concerned about keeping up with the Fall fashion
trends in addition to your personal style, here a few of the
hottest trends you'll find amidst the cooling weather
Leggings, a wonderful substitute to the classic sweats
look
Plaid, plaid, and more plaid!
Cardigans
Accessories like scarves, belts, necklaces, bags, and
shoes to keep your outfits constantly looking fresh even
if it's the third or fourth time you've worn that shirt
already.
