TNT is going to ring in the
holidays in musical style with its annual presentation of
CHRISTMAS IN WASHINGTON, which this year is scheduled to
feature platinum-selling, Grammy-winning Christian music
group Casting Crowns, Tony-winning performer Kristin Chenoweth,
rising country star Julianne Hough, Grammy winner Darius
Rucker and a cappella sensations Straight No Chaser. Dr.
Phil and Robin McGraw are slated to host the event for the
fifth consecutive year.
Annually attended by the
President and First Lady and other Washington VIPs, this
concert is a holiday music celebration benefiting the National
Children's Medical Center. CHRISTMAS IN WASHINGTON will
be taped at the National Building Museum in Washington,
D.C., and will premiere on TNT Wednesday, Dec. 17, at 8
p.m. (ET/PT). Check out our Q&A interview with Kristin
Chenoweth!
J. Kissane: Hi Kristin, it's wonderful
to speak with you.
Kristin Chenoweth: Oh, you too.
J. Kissane: This special seems like it
is going to be really wonderful this year with the performers
that are also joining you on stage and, of course, with
you performing for the President and First Lady, do you
still get nervous? What kind of the - the thought that goes
on in your head right before you take the stage?
Kristin Chenoweth: Do I still get nervous?
I have to tell you, I have sung many times for the President
and the First Lady, and - and - and even privately for them
for different functions and I will never not feel my knees
knocking.
I mean I will never get over that I'm singing
for the President and even though especially Mrs. Bush has
been like " Well, Kristin, we just love you, we love
your voice and you just remind me of my girls," I mean
they - she is like your mom, you know what I mean? So she
puts you at ease is my point. There is no reason in the
world that I should be nervous. But I do still get nervous.
I sung for the Clintons, I got nervous when
I did that. If I am - have the opportunity to sing for the
President - President Elect Obama, I'm sure I will find
myself you know leaning over a trashcan as well.
I always get nervous and I get more nervous
to sing, you know I've sung concerts all over the world
in front of thousands of people. But I don't know what it
is and I only have to do two songs, but everybody please
say a prayer for me because you know I'll have to eat like
five million Tums just to get through this.
J. Kissane: Well, thank you very much.
Good luck, I'm looking forward to it.
