Barenaked Ladies PCM Interview

Interview with Barenaked Ladies drummer Tyler Stewart!

Acclaimed multi-platinum pop-rock group the Barenaked Ladies and their label Raisin' Records have signed an exclusive worldwide deal with EMI Music Label Services unit and have just released their 11th studio album, All In Good Time. The band and longtime producer Michael Phillip Wojewoda began recording the album last spring at Canterbury Studios and Jimmy C's in Toronto and recently finished mixing with Bob Clearmountain (Bruce Springsteen, Rolling Stones, David Bowie).

Over the course of the past twenty-one years, the Barenaked Ladies have racked up a half-dozen Juno Awards and multiple Grammy nominations, sold more than 14 million albums worldwide, written a plethora of hit singles (including "One Week," "Pinch Me," and "If I Had $1000000") and amassed an international fanbase whose members number in the millions. The band also wrote and recorded the theme song to the hit CBS television series "The Big Bang Theory."

All In Good Time Album Review
By: Kristyn

Fans and critices alike were very skeptical about what this album would mean for the Barenaked Ladies, as this is their first since the departure of vocalist and co-founding member Stephen Page. While it is certainly apparent from first listen that something or rather someone's influence is missing, I still feel that the BNL boy's have put together a solid release!

Keyboardist Kevin Hearn, bassist Jim Creeggan, and drummer Tyler Stewart do an incredible job of stepping up to the plate and filling the void left by Page's absence, while vocalist Ed Robertson continues to do what he does best: creating deliciously catchy pop melodies and belting his heart out! It could be stated that is is probably the most honest/serious album that the band has ever released, in fact I believe drummer Tyler Stewart said something simliar in my interview with him a few days ago, and I could not agree more!

Long-time fans of BNL will be more likely to embrace this album, that just the causual fans who can only name the group's several quirky radio hits. These long-time fans know that the group has always had a more serious side, and this album definitely sheds a light onto that side of BNL's music. Don't get me wrong there are still several up-beat and pop-tinged tracks such as "Summertime" and " Four Seconds" so relax, the group has not completely lost their sense of fun and silliness! When all is said and done, I feel like BNL had a lot to prove with the album and they are certainly succuessful in proving that they are certainly up for the challenge!
