Veteran guitar legend Joe Satriani, one of the world's most renowned instrumental artists, recorded Live in Paris: I Just Wanna Rock! on May 27, 2008 at The Grand Rex Theater in Paris, France. The brand new live two-disc CD and DVD will be released on February 2, 2010 through Epic Records.

Joe Satriani took a few moments to answer some questions from PCM's Kristyn Clarke about the upcoming release, his influence, and what is next on the horizon! Read on below!

Q: Why did you choose the Paris performance in particular for the CD/DVD?

Joe Satriani: It was the only one we shot! Good choice of venue though, because the Gran Rex is magical and the Paris audience is always fantastic.

Q: Can you share with us a little about the upcoming “Experience Hendrix” tour?

Joe Satriani: I can’t wait to get onstage every night, celebrate Jimi’s legacy and jam with all the other musicians on the tour. I’m looking forward to playing “Third Stone From The Sun” too.

Q: Do you have any unusual superstitions or rituals before going on stage, that we may not know about?

Joe Satriani: Not really, I just warm up for about 30 minutes then get together with the guys and do some sort of humorous cheer, whatever comes into my head, or, someone else’s.

Q: How does it feel to know that you are a major influence on so many younger musicians? Do you have any advice to share with aspiring guitarists?

Joe Satriani: I hope if I have any influence it’s a good one, one that is all about being a dedicated musician. There’s no substitute for practice. They say you need to put in 10,000 hours to be great. That may well be the truth.

Q: Who are some of your major inspirations?

Joe Satriani: Hendrix, Page, Beck, May, Gibbons, Wes Montgomery, Buddy Guy, etc…

Q: What is your favorite guilty pleasure song?

Joe Satriani: I Wanna Be Sedated by the Ramones

Q: What is next on the horizon, what does 2010 hold for you?

Joe Satriani: I will write and record a new solo album this summer, and somehow fit in writing the 2nd Chickenfoot CD with Sammy, Mike and Chad. There will be some solo touring as well.
