Michael Proietti - Next Food Network Star PCM Interview

Michael Proietti - Next Food Network Star Finalist

PCM's Rebekah recently spoke with Next Food Network Star Finalist Michael Proietti. He worked his way up from washing dishes to becoming executive chef at the Radisson Hotel in New Rochelle, N.Y. Michael is full of personality and is not afraid to show it in the kitchen. As a native New Yorker, he has a variety of markets available to him and a great appreciation for global cuisine.

Q: How did you feel about the way your personality came through on camera?

Michael Proietti: That's really who I am everyday. My personality on the show is really true to who I am. I am kind of a loud, fun character. It is just how I go through life.

Q: Is there any food that you wish you had gotten the chance to prepare on the show?

M.P.: You know what, I am really happy with everything that I made. Maybe I would have put a little bit more time into what I did last night. But I think I was pretty happy. There was one thing that I probably would have loved to do, I probably would have loved to have gotten to do lobster along the line. I love lobster and I love to cook it, so that would have been fun.

Q: What was your favorite aspect of participating in Next Food Network Star?

M.P.: Getting voted off in Miami. Hello! There were just so many good points. I had so much fun. I think just meeting everyone and the cast, the crew, the producers, everyone; everyone was just so sweet and so much fun and so supportive. It was just really a good time. And just getting the experience was just so much fun. There are just so many aspects that I loved.

Q: Do you have any advice for future contestants?

M.P.: Run! No. Just be true to who you are. You know, I think I came into this just wanting to have a good time and maybe walking away with something. And you know what, I didn't walk away with the title, but I did walk away with confidence in what I do and pride, and I had a great time and I think that is the most important thing for me. Listen, I'm 28, this is going to do really great stuff for my career, so that is just the most important.
