(September
15, 2008) - PCM's entertainment writer Julie
Kissane spoke to singer/songwriter Sara Bareilles. Bareilles
has exploded onto the music scene this past year with hits like,
"Love Song," and "Bottle It Up."
The radioplay she's received has been tremendous! Her debut album,
Little Voice, has been a huge success and her first single,
"Love Song," brought her into the number one spot on the
Billboard Pop 100 chart. PCM was lucky enough to chat with Bareilles
while she was in London. She's ended a successful tour with The
Counting Crows and Maroon 5 and just begun a massive world tour
through November 2008.
After getting off a 23 hour flight from Sydney to London, Bareilles
was kind enough to chat about her tour, traveling, plans for her
new album and more! Despite her amazing success, Bareilles was lovely
on the phone and we enjoyed our time with her. "So far,
besides the long plane rides, it's been great. We'vebeen
trying to pepper the dates so we have a couple days off here and
there to try to take time to enjoy where we are. We are seeing so
many of these newcities for the first time, it's been so great."
she said. She explained how seeing the cities that she's touring
through is very important to her. Bareilles doesn't want to look
back and say that, "I've been to those places but never
really saw them when I was there playing a show."
Our writer Julie asked Bareilles if she sees differences
between crowds in the U.S. that attend her shows and international
crowds. Bareilles explained, "you know, when there's a language
barrier, I get a little self conscious because I'm afraid that they
don't understand what I'm saying. But it's really an amazing feeling
to play a show in a country somewhere that you're not familiar with
and people still are enjoying themselves and singing along to the
words. That's such a satisfying to play those shows."
If you haven't heard of Sara Bareilles, we encourage you to head
over to her MySpace
page and go get her album, it's great! Hey, here's some of our audio
interview with her, check out this clip below:
